Good morning! I just received this excellent example of
what I and the James Randi Educational Foundation will be
battling against.... Read it and understand why we're in
business. I've not attributed it, though the writer may
wish me to do so.
........................................................

God help you if you never pick up the phone and know who's
at the other end of it before he or she speaks, because
you will have just had a genuine psychic experience, and
your anti-spiritual, anti-intuitive, mean-spirited
world-view will have been turned upside down. The highest
calling of science is to teach discrimination, not to
denigrate the miraculous or what is beyond one's personal
scope of understanding. Your criticisms about the subjects
you indiscriminately ridicule are a monument only to your
lack of serious research, your impatience, and your
superficial explorations. Your world is completely focused
on the dry external realities only and so you cannot
possibly have any insight into mankind's search for health
and wholeness through natural means, and consequently,
have insight into yourself. When science once again learns
how not to throw out the baby of intuition with the
bathwater of reason, the general public will come to
respect it again. In the meantime, let's everyone thank
rational science for the beauties of the atom bomb and the
research done on behalf of the tobacco industry.

.......................................................

Uhuh. And antibiotics, organ transplants, longer lifespan,
safe drinking water, eradication of small pox, richer and
fuller lives, etc.

If this person isn't a "ringer," and actually believes
that the telephone experience quoted is a psychic event,
I don't see much hope for recovery. There are so many
out there who "think" this way..... Let's get up there
on the battlements. They're coming this way....!

James Randi.
