rhabdomancy Also known as “water-witching,” “divining,” and dowsing, which see. More strictly speaking, rhabdomancy is an art of throwing sticks, rods, or arrows on the ground to interpret the plans of nature. It has a parallel in “throwing the wands” in the process of I Ching fortune-telling.
